Organisation Readiness: People, Skills and Culture for AI
Technology is the small part. This pillar covers the human conditions that decide whether anything you buy is actually used.
Technology is 20% — the organisation is the other 80%
Tools arrive fully formed. Trust, capability and capacity do not. The functions getting value from AI are rarely the ones with the best platform; they are the ones where people were given time, permission and a reason to try.
AI literacy across HR
Start with an honest skills picture: who in the team can write a decent prompt, who can read a model output sceptically, who knows what must never leave the building.
Literacy is not a course. It is repeated, low-stakes practice on real work, with someone to ask when it goes wrong. It is also a legal expectation — the AI Act requires deployers to ensure sufficient AI literacy among the people using these systems.
Change management for AI-enabled HR
Check your change capacity before adding to it. If the function is mid-restructure or in the middle of a system implementation, an AI rollout will queue behind them whatever the plan says.
Managers are the pivot point. If they cannot explain why a tool exists and what it does not decide, employees will assume the worst.
Culture: safety and experimentation
People experiment when a failed experiment is survivable. Make it explicit: which tools are approved, what data can go in, and that reporting a bad output is welcome rather than career-limiting.
Where works councils or unions are part of the landscape, early involvement is faster than late consultation — even when it does not feel that way at the time.
